POMARIA — The Rev. Paul H. Rogers, a former pastor at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, will be the guest speaker when the church celebrates its homecoming at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21. The church, 2360 Mt. Pleasant Road in Pomaria, will be celebrating its 194th anniversary.

Rogers, a United Methodist pastor and missionary was born and raised in Brazil as the son and grandson of missionaries. He received his master’s degree in anthropology from Scarritt College and his masters in divinity from Vanderbilt University.

He has served churches in the South Carolina United Methodist Annual Conference, Brazil, and the Caribbean for 40 years. He and his family lived in Pomaria from 1984-1989. Rogers is married to the Rev. Sheila Rogers and they live in Greenwood. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
