Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School holds its Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Prosperity Town Square.

• The Newberry Veterans Parade begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Newberry. Applications are available from Eugene Wilson and Henry Brooks at the American Legion or the city of Newberry Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.

National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jasper Chapter, serves coffee and doughnuts in Memorial Park following the Veterans Day Parade as they commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

Arthur Turfa is at Books on Main from noon to 5 p.m. signing copies of his new poetry book “Places and Times.”

American Legion Post 24 hosts a Veterans Day banquet at the American Legion Post Hut on S.C. 34. Social hour is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by the banquet. Thomas H. Pope III, a U.S. Navy veteran who served as Officer-in-Charge of Swift Boat 102 in the Mekong Delta, is the speaker. Nov. 8

Whitten Center holds its 26th annual Motorcycle Run. Activities begin in downtown Clinton at 12:30 p.m. with a live band. Food and T-shirts can be purchased. Proceeds go to the Whitten Center Parents’ Club to benefit the canter. Motorcycles leave the downtown Clinton Square at 2 p.m., cars are welcome.

Nov. 9

• The Newberry County Humane Society meets at 6 p.m. at Springfield Place Chapel. Rainbow Bridge Foundation will be present a program. Nominations and election of officers for 2016 will be held.

Nov. 10

• The Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board meets at 4 p.m. in the conference room at Newberry Industries, 115-B Nance St. in Newberry.

• The Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Newberry County Library meets at 4 p.m. in the Hal Kohn Memorial Library. Janice Weakland will lead the discussion on Girl with a Pear Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Call 276-6072 for more information.

Nov. 11

• The Newberry Creative Arts Club meets in the Aveleigh Church parking lot on Calhoun Street at 10 a.m. They will carpool to the Newberry City Water Treatment Plant for a tour of the plant.

Newberry Middle School holds a veteran’s recognition breakfast and ceremony. Any veteran who is related to any member of the NMS faculty, staff or student is invited to attend. RSVP to 321-2640 by Nov. 6. NMS is also selling stars to honor veterans, they are $1 and all proceeds earned will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Nov. 13-14

Friends of the Newberry County Library System hold a used book sale at the Hal Kohn Memorial Library. The sale will be Friday 9:15 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 9:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Nov. 18

Little Mountain Newberry OES holds a country fried steak dinner sale at Little Mountain Masonic Lodge from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Plates are $8.50, eat in or take out.
