NEWBERRY — Newberry attorney Tom Pope of Pope Parker Jenkins, P.A., in Newberry, was presented with the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award (2017) by the South Carolina Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates at its annual banquet in Columbia on February 1.

Sam Mabry of Greenville, and a National Board member, made the presentation to Pope.

ABOTA is an organization of trial lawyers who represent both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases. The South Carolina Chapter has 146 members. ABOTA is an invitation only organization with chapters in all 50 states with 7,222 active members nationwide. Its mission is to foster the ethical and technical standards of trial practice and to preserve all citizens’ rights under the Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution to a trial by jury.
