PROSPERITY — On Jan. 12, five individuals were arrested for shoplifting and criminal conspiracy in Prosperity, according to Chief David Beddingfield.

Timothy Kinlaw, 33, was charged with shoplifting, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal conspiracy; Joshua Lucas, 26, was charged with shoplifting, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of crack cocaine and criminal conspiracy; Monifah Lucas, 19, was charged with shoplifting and criminal conspiracy; Pearl Elizabeth Potter, 25, was charged with shoplifting and criminal conspiracy; Adama Pastures, 37, was charged with shoplifting and criminal conspiracy.

Beddingfield said that Kinlaw, Joshua Lucas and a young juvenile entered a Prosperity business while the other named individuals waited in a vehicle outside. Kinlaw and Lucas selected multiple products, totaling approximately $281, as the young juvenile pushed the buggy.

During their exit, Lucas and Kinlaw abandoned the young juvenile after instructing him to push the shopping cart outside. Once outside the adults loaded the items and fled the scene. The individuals were located and taken into custody a short distance away.

Upon being booked into the Newberry County Detention Center, officers discover a round cylinder shaped object containing crack cocaine on Lucas.
