NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office’s Operation Santa and the Sheriff’s Santa Shop are in full swing.

“We are doing very well this year and we appreciate the love and generosity of our citizens and the citizens in surrounding counties that have chosen us for their Christmas cheer. However since the Newberry Community Choir is not having a program this year, we are missing their donation. They were a major benefactor and we miss their choral performance, as well as their generosity of ‘charging’ a toy for admission,” said Sheriff Lee Foster.

The Sheriff’s Office is still accepting new and gently used toys through this week and into next week. If someone does not wish to donate a toy, they will accept gift cards for teens in the household that may not get anything for Christmas, or want a toy.

Donations can be brought to the Sheriff’s Office at 550 Wilson Road or call 803-321-2211 and arrangements will be made to pick the donation up on rounds.

“We truly appreciate everyone for their generosity and making the project successful year after year,” Foster said. “The Sheriff’s Office vets all applicants to insure that the recipients will indeed have a Merry Christmas.”
