WHITMIRE — Dr. Robert Yannetti, who has dedicated many years to the Whitmire community, was recognized during Whitmire’s regular Council Meeting Monday night.

“Everyone knows that you have done so many things, so many great things for our community. You have stood with us during our times of joy and you have held us during our times of sorrow,” said Rep. Rick Martin.

Martin, on behalf of the South Carolina House of Representatives, presented Yannetti with a certificate commemorating his retirement from internal medicine after 35 years of service and loyalty.

“He provided compassionate and professional health care to his patients in and around Whitmire, S.C. and offered piece of mind and hope all through his dedicated service. We appreciate his unwavering skill, endearing kindness and healing hands and heart. We thank him for his selfless service to the community and for the vital and central role he played in the good health of our families and friends,” Martin said.

Councilman Michael Thomas also presented a plaque to Yannetti from the Town of Whitmire.

“Not only from City Council, but personally, you’ve been beneficial to our family and not just my family, but the whole community. We appreciate all that you’ve done, from the tireless nights, calls late at night and early mornings,” Thomas said.

Other business:

• Officer Josh Wilbanks reported that the Whitmire Police Department filed 103 incidents and issued 133 citations for the month of November. Some of the calls the department responded to included: domestic violence, burglary, possession of marijuana, possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, DUI and larceny of firearms.

• Mayor Billy Hollingsworth presented the financial report for the month. The Town had a beginning balance of $37,550.22, depositing $46,092.57. Expenditures totaled at $50,844.78, leaving the Town with an ending balance of $32,798.01.

From the Public Works Department, the Town had a beginning balance of $6,501.07 with a revenue of $66,119.42. Expenditures for the month totaled at $65,422.13, leaving an ending balance of $7,198.36.

• Thomas made the motion to accept the second and final reading of the Town Ordinance Codifications. Councilman Dwight Lane seconded.

• Thomas made the motion to contact the Eighth Circuit Public Defenders Office to ask for a representative and cost of retaining them for the Town’s municipal court system. Councilman Galen Roche seconded.
