NEWBERRY — Newberry High School began a Success Wednesday initiative on Nov. 1. The purpose of Success Wednesday is to allow students to see and experience what it takes to succeed in today’s world.

Twice a month (on Wednesdays) students, faculty and staff are encouraged to “dress for success.” In addition, speakers will come to NHS to talk to students about character traits of successful people.

Members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and representatives from the Newberry County School District came to greet and speak with students before school on Nov. 1. Students from the Newberry College baseball and softball teams also greeted students as they arrived.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity spoke to male students during two sessions on “College Life Outside of Academics” to provide insight on how the college experience prepares individuals for life. The Kappas touched on personal experiences and gave testimonies on how college has impacted their lives.

Future Success Wednesday dates: Nov. 15, Dec. 6, Dec. 20, Jan. 10, 2018, Jan. 24, 2018, Feb. 7, 2018, Feb. 21, 2018, March 7, 2018, March 21, 2018, April 11, 2018, April 25, 2018, May 9, 2018, May 23, 2018.
