Sandor named Newberry County Family YMCA CEO

NEWBERRY — Scott Sandor has been named the new chief executive officer of the Newberry County Family YMCA, as announced by Robert Livingston chairman of the Board for the Newberry County Family YMCA.

According to information provided by the YMCA, Sandor is coming to Newberry from the Union County Family YMCA, where he has served as the CEO for the past decade. During his time as CEO in Union membership has increased 90% and the Board of Directors progressed beyond being functional to being activists for the organization.

Sandor’s previously held positions include senior program director (2004-07) of the Pine Street YMCA in Spartanburg; branch director (2002-04) of Middle Tyger YMCA in Duncan and branch director, Childcare Services Branch (2000-02) of the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg.

Sandor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Towson University in Maryland.

Sandor will begin his duties as CEO in January 2018, in the interim Johnathan Bass will continue to serve as CEO. Sandor is preceded by Eric Nelson, who retired in September.
