NEWBERRY — Newberry Middle School is making every effort to continue to strengthen its band program, and support Newberry High School in their efforts to build.

Principal Kim Hamilton said one of these efforts put forth by Elizabeth Douglass, the middle school director, is to provide students with a strong foundation.

Lesson Night is one of the programs Douglass has implemented at Newberry Middle School. She invites experts to practice with students in small groups based on their respective instruments. It gives students an opportunity to practice and get one-on-one or small group assistance.

“We had a great turnout and help from our local band directors. Miss Douglass is awesome and does whatever it takes to make our students succeed,” Hamilton said.
