Graham booked at NCDC

NEWBERRY — Joseph Lee Graham, 54, of Holloway Street, is now at the Newberry County Detention Center, after leaving the Palmetto Health Richland Trauma Center on Sunday.

“Joseph Graham has been booked in the Newberry County Detention Center. There is no word yet on any bond hearing,” said Chief Roy McClurkin.

Joseph Graham was medically cleared for the Detention Center after he suffered a stab wound early Wednesday morning on Aug. 2.

Joseph Graham is being charged with murder, he is accused of killing his 48 year old brother, Mark Edward Graham. Mark Graham was found unresponsive at a family residence by law enforcement officials at around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 2, Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece said that the autopsy showed that Mark Graham died from asphyxia due to strangulation and ruled the death a homicide.

McClurkin said that from speaking with witnesses, who were on the scene, there was some type of altercation between the two brothers that resulted in the death of Mark Graham.
