NEWBERRY — Newberry County Memorial Hospital continues to show a strong performance in inpatient and outpatient core measures, CEO Bruce Baldwin recently reported to the Board of Trustees.

Baldwin reported that new additions Sally Potts, Karen Revis, Susie Myers and Gena Driggers are fitting in nicely in their positions at NCMH.

It was reported in May that the Emergency Department’s LWOT (Left without Treatment) reduced down to the hospital’s 2.0 percent goal (40 patients) with volumes totaling at 1,891 visits.

“This is still trending in the right direction, with turnaround times continuing to be good in May,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin also gave an update on current improvements at NCMH. Grounds improvements have been completed, along with the moving of the chapel. Installation of the new 64 slice CT machine has been completed and flooring and painting in this area is being finished. The repaving of the front and back parking lots of the Wound Care/General Surgical Services/PFS building have been completed.

It was also reported that Metz Culinary Management will present a proposed renovation to NCMH’s Dietary/Cafeteria area that was approved in the capital budget for FY 2018.

In other business, the Foundation’s Golf Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 19 at the Country Club of Newberry. More information will be releases as it becomes available.

NCMH has been recognized by Becker’s Review for the second year in a row for being among the top 100 Great Community Hospitals. NCMH will soon begin promoting all of their 2017 awards through a marketing campaign in the new fiscal year.

The statistical report for May 2017 showed a total of 13 live births, which is under the projected number of 24 live births. The prior year also came in under budget at 22 total live births.

The total number of Emergency Room came in under budget with a total of 1,891 ER visits. Last year, the number of ER visits had a slightly higher number totaling at 1,922 total visits.

Total patient revenue for May was $12,602,740. The budgeted amount of total patient revenue came in at $12,535,567, which is a variance of $67,173.

Total current assets for May totaled at $$38,554,543, which is significantly higher than April’s total of $38,076,750. This totaled a difference of $477,793.
