NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and Newberry City Police have posted fliers asking for the public’s help in finding leads involving the murder of Clint Stephens and recent shootings that have occurred over the course of a couple weeks in the Wise, Gray, Adelaide street areas and West End section of Newberry.

“We are getting the community to work with us to help garner leads in both of these investigations. We are putting the fliers out to help keep the community safe and to have their assistance in solving other crimes and issues” Police Chief Roy McClurkin said Thursday.

Both the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and City Police are working together to gather any information that may be helpful.

“Over the last couple of weeks, we have had shootings in which some have actually hit people, houses have been shot at or just random shooting in the air,” said Sheriff Lee Foster.

Foster said that they are soliciting help from people who live in these neighborhoods and the general public to help identify anyone involved in these cases.

“We are trying to create some kind of interest in the community so that the community will help us out,” said Foster.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Newberry Police Department at 803-321-1010, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department at 803-321-2211 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Tips can also be emailed to tips@ncso.sc.gov.
