PROSPERITY — Several churches in the community partnered together Sunday for an inaugural back-to-school blessing of bookbags and celebration at Prosperity’s Town Park and Civic Center.

Adrienne Fink, associate pastor at Wightman United Methodist Church, said the church wanted to celebrate what was happening in the community and let people know God cares about the education of area youth.

Churches that participated included Grace Lutheran Church, Kingdom South Church, Prosperity Church of God, Shiloh A.M.E. and Wightman United Methodist Church.

A worship service was followed by a blessing of bookbags and a community meal.
