PROSPERITY — To help offset the cost of came for students involved in Young Life of Newberry participated in a Wingathon at Roma’s in Prosperity last Wednesday. The Wingathon involved the students getting community members to sponsor them, and donate money for every wing they ate.

“It costs $575 per student to experience the best week of their lives at camp,” said Eddie Long, area director of Young Life of Newberry, on his Facebook page.

Long also participated in the Wingathon, as did Young Life staff member Cole Harper. The money raised during the Wingathon, either through pledges or straight out donation will go straight to help the youths go to camp.

During the Wingathon Young Life of Newberry ate a total of 493 wings, which allowed them to raise about $8,600, which is enough to send about 15 youths to camp.
