Irish Fling time
NEWBERRY — The annual Irish Fling in Downtown Newberry will be held March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day — beginning at 5 p.m. Alcohol will be allowed in Downtown event area until midnight and only in special to-go event cups provided by participating restaurants and bars.
The red event tent will be Astwood Park, 1318 Main St., where patrons can get an “over 21” wristband, souvenirs and a chance to enter a “wearing green” raffle for tickets to the Atlanta Pops featuring Celtic Woman Chloe Agnew at 4 p.m. April 23 at the Newberry Opera House.
A Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt at 7 p.m. will feature gift certificates or prizes from downtown shops.

NEWBERRY — GLEAMNS Head Start/Early Head Start is accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year.
To be eligible for Head Start, children must be 3 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017. To be eligible for Early Head Start infants must be eight weeks old. For applications to be processed the following is needed: the child’s birth certificate or other proof of child’s age and proof of family income from the previous 12 months (2016 Form 1040, W-2, check stubs, etc.).
