NEWBERRY COUNTY — Emergency Services from Newberry and Saluda Counties along with SCDNR and Lexington County Sheriff’s Office are searching Lake Murray at Black’s Bridge (S.C. 391) for a possible missing person.

Henry Lee Brooks, 66, is described as a black male five feet, nine inches in height and approximately 240 pounds. He has white thinning hair and facial hair.

Early Monday morning an abandoned vehicle was found on Black’s Bridge. The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) began checking on the vehicle to find out why it was left on the bridge, only to find that the individual had not been heard from since Saturday afternoon.

Deputies searched areas where he was known to frequent and have interviewed family and friends.

As part of the investigatory process, the Newberry County Water Rescue Team and DNR were called in to perform a diving operation around the bridge. Assisting in the operation are units from Saluda County, DNR and the Lexington County Lake Patrol.
