NEWBERRY — The annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Tournament was held Oct. 3 at the Mid-Carolina Golf Club in Prosperity. There were 25 teams with 100 golfers participating in this “Captain’s Choice” event.

The golfers and FCA workers had a very nice hamburger/hot dog lunch with trimmings. MCC always provides a very nice setting and lunch with an “all you can eat” buffet.

The winning team was Willie Jeffries, Ronnie Collins, Herman Belton and Wesley Wilson, with a score of 59. Second place was awarded to the team of Doc Hanberry, Tim Christensen, Josh Day and Mel Love with a score of 60.

The long drive at Hole 6 was won by Sam Jackson, with the four par three closest to pin awarded to Terry Dalporto on number four, Bill Brice on number one, Wayne Jovanelly on number 13 and Brenda Perry on number 17.

Lee Duncan MCC Head Pro was awarded an honorary membership to the Newberry County FCA Chapter for his 10 years of remarkable assistance and direction to the chapter, the only recipient to ever receive this honor.

First place winners were Herman Belton, Willie Jeffries, Ronnie Collins and Wesley Wilson.
