WHITMIRE — Whitmire’s annual Halloween Carnival will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Teddy Weaver Gym, also known as Whitmire City Gym.

Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for ages 1 and up and free for children under 1. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Senior Beta Club students at Whitmire Community School.

Inflatables, music, games and door prizes will also be at the carnival. Trick or treating also falls on the day of the Halloween Carnival, so take your ghosts and goblins out trick or treating and bring them on over to the Halloween Carnival to enjoy the festivities.

“We’re going to have candy apples, cotton candy, cupcakes, popcorn, pizza, soda and water. We’ll also have door prizes being handed out from Whitmire Community School, Piggly Wiggly and Rusty Spoon to name a few,” said Christianna Gillam, president of the Whitmire Jaycees.

The Whitmire Jaycees have been holding the event since 2014. The Whitmire High Athletic Booster Club hosted the Halloween Carnival for 45 years before turning it over to the Whitmire Jaycees.

“The Halloween Carnival was going to be over if the Jaycees did not take over. We felt the Halloween Carnival had been a big Whitmire tradition for many years and we did not want the community to lose it. The Whitmire Jaycees are always trying to help the community. This carnival helps the children stay off the streets and enjoy playing games and having fun.”
