NEWBERRY —A 21-year-old Prosperity man was killed Monday night after the motorcycle he was on collided with a car at the intersection of Boyd’s Crossroads.

Coroner Craig Newton said Clayton David Spradling died instantly in the wreck, which occurred at 9:40 p.m. Monday.

Spradling was wearing a helmet, but was ejected from the motorcycle, and the motorcycle travelled another 100 yards, Newton said.

Spradling was the only one on the motorcycle. The two occupants in the vehicle were not injured.

The wreck remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol and the Newberry Coroner’s Office. The Newberry Sheriff’s Department, County Rescue Squads, and County Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
