NEWBERRY — Traffic was detoured Wednesday after a cement truck overturned at the intersection of S.C. 34 and S.C. 39. “The driver was pinned in the truck and had to be extricated by Chappells Fire and Rescue and Newberry Fire and Rescue. The hazardous materials group was also called to the scene to secure a fuel and oil leak resulting from the accident,” said Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster.

The driver of the truck was later transported to Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood for further evaluations.

“We currently do not know the condition of the driver, but he was transported to Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood to receive treatment,” Foster said.
