Teen Theater Academy begins July 15

NEWBERRY — The Newberry Community Players will begin the Teen Theater Academy on July 15.


Sponsored by the Bill and Mary Carter Charitable Foundation, the Newberry Community Players Teen Theater Academy will feature four weeks of study in sewing costumes, set design, acting and play writing.


The Ritz Theater will host the classes each Tuesday and Thursday from July 15 to Aug. 7. Students ages 8 to 12 are invited to attend the Thursday afternoon acting class. All other classes are geared for teens ages 13 to 18.


Tuesdays will feature sewing from 10 a.m. to noon, acting from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and play writing from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday will feature tech class from 10 a.m. to noon, acting (for younger students) from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and play writing from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.


The play-writing class will write the script for the spring children’s production of “Four Forgotten Fairytales.”


All classes are free, but NCP asks those interested to register at 924-7158.
