Why join your Chamber?

May 11, 2014

Recently I was asked to speak to a local organization and explain just what the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce is all about. As I was preparing my thoughts for this talk, it occurred to me that we often get so caught up in the day to day activities, we fail to remember to maintain the tasks that made us great in the first place. We see this occurring in many businesses, often resulting in closures.

Now, I know this could never happen to you, but I feel certain you can recall some who failed in this manner. Here at your Chamber, we never want to see a business fail. We take the responsibility to help you be successful a serious matter. Furthermore, we find it gratifying to arrange our Business After Hours events, as well as quarterly breakfasts, golf tournament, annual meeting, lunch and learns, business visitations and many other events just so you can meet with like minded business leaders to discuss new ideas and gather information to enable improvement to your business.

But we do not stop there, the rest of the story is this: your Chamber does so much more! We produce a weekly newsletter and community calendar designed to keep Chamber members informed and aware of what is happening throughout the county. We are also very active in programs such as Workforce Development, Economic Development, and Career Center initiatives designed not only to improve our students’ knowledge, but help retain our youth as they move into the workforce.

Your membership also allows you to take advantage of Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance discounts as well as advertising opportunities for your business. Another reason for you to consider membership is the fact that we also operate the Newberry County Visitors Center. We take great pride in recommending our member’s businesses to the hundreds of visitors’ questions regarding where to shop, dine, and stay during their visit. So, when one considers the benefits to be gained by being an active member of your Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, it is difficult to understand why anybody would choose not to become a supporter of your local Newberry County Chamber of Commerce. We also promote individual memberships for those who just want to support the great programs we offer our members. So, what is keeping you from becoming a Newberry County Chamber of Commerce member?

I urge you to stop by and see for yourself just how important your Chamber is to this community. We are located at 1209 Caldwell Street in Community Hall (main floor), and we cannot wait to start working for you. By the way, if you are unable to stop and see us, please call (803) 276-4274 and let Liz, Michelle, or myself tell you the many benefits awaiting you simply through your Chamber membership.
