Sons wins twice in Wolves’ 6-3 loss to Royals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Senior David Sons picked up a pair of wins at Freedom Park on Friday as the Wolves fell 6-3 to the Queens Royals.

Sons picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with senior Vinicius Botelho over Jules Athalis and Per-Erik Soler by a score of 9-7.

The Wolves (8-9, 5-5 SAC) ran into trouble in singles play as the Royals (7-4, 3-2 SAC) earned victories in four matches.

Newberry’s first singles win came from sophomore Fernando Espana knocked off Athalis in straight sets. Sons took down Zachary Williams in two sets at No. 5 singles.
