NEWBERRY — J.F. Hawkins/Springfield Place recently received a Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Kathy Montgomery is the executive director.

CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes easily and to be able to identify areas where they have questions.

The system gives each nursing home a rating of between one and five stars. The nursing homes are graded on health inspections, staffing and quality measures.

In addition to getting the Five-Star Quality Rating, the facility was named as the Facility of the Year by Prestige Healthcare Management for 2012. Montgomery was named as the Administrator of the Year and Stacey Bobo as the Director of Nursing for the year.
