Prosperity grocery store has new face

November 16, 2013

COLUMBIA — The former Piggly Wiggly in Prosperity has a new name as of Nov. 15 — Bi-Lo — since Bi-Lo purchased Piggly Wigglys across the state and the coast of Georgia.

The Prosperity store is one of four in the greater Columbia area that opened Friday with new signs. The other new Bi-Los are at 4711-1 Forest Drive in Columbia, 760 Highway 378 in Lexington and 615 Harry C Raysor Drive in St. Matthews.

“We are excited to welcome these new Bi-Lo stores to the Columbia market,” said Sam Blaiss, Central region vice president for Bi-Lo stores. “We invite shoppers to visit the stores and learn more about Bi-Lo’s money-saving programs and quality products.”

The new Bi-Lo stores are four of 22 stores in South Carolina and coastal Georgia bought earlier this year from Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company Inc. by Bi-Lo Holdings LLC, parent company of the Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie grocery chains.
