NEWBERRY — Reach out to the senior citizens of Newberry County this holiday season through a gift drive sponsored by Hospice Care of South Carolina and Springfield Place.
Senior adults have spent many years giving to the community and now there is an opportunity to show appreciation by giving a gift for a senior in need.
Many senior citizens spend the holidays alone and many are without family and without any gifts during Christmas. The spirit of Christmas is one of giving. Give a small token of appreciation to them for being grand.
Gifts should be new and unwrapped. Some gift ideas include toiletries, throw blankets, music boxes, wind chimes, sweat shirts, mittens, bird feeders, etc. Gifts will be accepted until Dec. 9.
Gifts can be dropped off at Springfield Place, Whitaker Funeral Home, Springfield Place, J.F. Hawkins, Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, Stokes-Trainor, McSwain Evans, Newberry Electric Cooperative, Sligh’s Superette in Prosperity, Wilson’s in Pomaria and Wilson’s in Little Mountain.
Applications for “Gifts for Grands” can be picked up at Springfield Place, 2000 Springfield Circle, Newberry or contact Ty Ransdell at firstname.lastname@example.org or 405-1585 or Brandi Riddle at email@example.com or 944-1017 for applications.
Let them know of a senior citizen who would not otherwise receive a gift this holiday season. Gifts will be distributed based on need and availability of gifts.
For more information contact Hospice Care of South Carolina at 803-944-1017 or Springfield Place at 803-405-1585.
