WHITMIRE — A wreck Saturday night on S.C. 66 has left two adults dead and one child in the hospital after the driver of a truck apparently ran off the road and overcorrected.

Garrick Bledsoe, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene the night of the wreck on Oct. 26, Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton said.

Kayla Marie Stephens, 26, died around 6:45 p.m. Oct. 29 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Newton said.

The third passenger was an 8-year-old female who was ejected from the truck. She was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

According to authorities, the truck was headed west on S.C. 66. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road and the driver overcorrected. The truck then ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned in the road. None of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
