October 18, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After returning to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Division II Southeast Region rankings a week ago at No. 10, the Wolves remain the No. 10 team in the region.

Newberry (7-4, 5-2 SAC) re-entered the rankings after falling out following the September 17 poll that saw the Wolves ranked No. 4 in the region. Newberry has re-entered the poll after winning three straight matches beginning with a victory over then-regional No. 9, Queens. The Wolves have since topped Anderson 4-1 on the road and Carson-Newman 1-0 in overtime over the weekend.

The Wolves are among the conference leaders in clean sheets with six. Newberry is paced by juniors Gabrielle Brodie and Breanna Naranjo, both of whom have three goals on the season. Brodie is among the conference leaders in assist with five on the year.

Newberry looks to hold onto its regional ranking this week as the Wolves host regional No. 5 Wingate on Saturday.
