NEWBERRY COUNTY — A white male suspect in his mid-20s is wanted for two attempts in trying to flag down females traveling alone and telling them they have a flat tire, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.

The first incident happened last week and occurred along S.C. 219 and the suspect was driving a charcoal gray vehicle, make and model unknown. She continued to Wal-Mart and checked her tires which were okay.

The second incident happened Oct. 3 and occurred on Adelaide Street and the female driver met an oncoming vehicle that braked and the driver rolled down the window halfway to flag the female driver who stopped. When she rolled down her window the white male with dark skin said, “You got a flat tire. I will help you change it,” and the female advised she was going to school and would check on it then. This time the vehicle was dark in color but no make or model was identified.

If you have any information about the suspect, please contact the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222 immediately.

If you encounter such an experience, please call 911 immediately. It is imperative that law enforcement know about this activity while there is still time to react and possibly locate the suspect.
