Homecoming Week Spotlight at Whitmire Community School

WHITMIRE — Competition heated up last week as Whitmire Community School students competed with each other to show off their impressive style. On “Merica Monday” students showed their patriotic side, dressing in red, white and blue.Tuesday consisted of princesses, dalmatians and even pigs for “Character Day.”For “Western Wednesday,” the cowgirls and cowboys dusted off their best boots and flannel shirts. Covering the decades form the 60’s to the 90’s, students “threw it back” for “Throwback Thursday.” Finally, on Friday, students went all out, sporting their Wolverine colors.

 

Newberry Arts Center getting settled in new location

Wightman UMC packages meals for the hungry

PROSPERITY — Wightman United Methodist Church succeeded in its goal to package 50,001 meals on Sept. 21 for their Stop Hunger Now meal packaging event.Every quarter donated to the project led to a meal.
